WooCommerce Fee Calculator

Estimate the monthly cost of a WooCommerce store: WooPayments or gateway card fees, international cards, hosting, extensions and domain.

What the customer pays, including shipping and tax
Default is WooPayments for US-issued cards. Change it for Stripe, PayPal or another gateway.
Share of money, not order count; omit payments exempt from this surcharge
Share of money needing conversion because no payout bank account supports that currency
Most WooCommerce extensions are billed yearly

The WooCommerce plugin itself is free, so the real cost of a WooCommerce shop is payment processing plus the hosting, domain and paid extensions that keep it running. This calculator estimates both for a month of orders. The rate fields start at WooPayments' US pricing — 2.9% + $0.30 per domestic card payment, 1.5% more for international cards and 1% more when a currency is converted — and you can change them for Stripe, PayPal or any other gateway.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter your orders per month and the average order value.
  2. Check the card rate and fixed fee against your payment gateway.
  3. Enter the shares of total payment value subject to international and currency-conversion surcharges.
  4. Add hosting, yearly extension and theme costs, and your domain to see the full monthly cost.

Formula

Fee per order = Order value × (Rate + Intl share × Intl surcharge + FX share × FX surcharge) + Fixed fee

Monthly cost = Orders × Fee per order + Hosting + (Extensions + Domain) ÷ 12

Surcharges are weighted by payment value, not order count. A payment can incur both, so the two shares may overlap. Annual costs are divided by 12. Estimates use unrounded fees and omit refunds, disputes, Stripe Billing subscription surcharges, reader charges and instant-payout fees.

Example

A shop takes 200 orders a month averaging $60, with 10% of payment value subject to the international-card surcharge. The average fee is $60 × 3.05% + $0.30 = $2.13 per order, so processing costs $426. Hosting at $30, extensions at $300 a year ($25 a month) and a $15 domain ($1.25) add $56.25, for $482.25 a month — $2.41 per order, or 4.02% of $12,000 in sales.

Frequently asked questions

Is WooCommerce free?

The plugin is free to download and use on a WordPress site. You still pay for hosting, a domain, payment processing and any paid extensions or theme you choose.

Are WooPayments fees refunded when I refund an order?

No. WooPayments keeps the transaction fee when you refund a customer, so refunds raise your effective fee rate.

What does a chargeback cost?

WooPayments charges $15 per dispute in the US and returns it if you win the dispute. Disputes are not included in the monthly estimate.
