Amazon Seller Profit Calculator (FBA and FBM)

Calculate profit per unit on Amazon after referral, FBA or shipping, storage, advertising and plan fees, with margin, ROI and monthly profit.

Fulfillment
Look it up for your size tier in Amazon's FBA fee table or Revenue Calculator. FBA only.
Monthly storage charge ÷ units sold that month. FBA only.
FBM only
FBM only
What it costs to get each unit to Amazon or your warehouse
Monthly ad spend ÷ total units sold

Amazon's fees are only part of the picture: a product that looks profitable on the fee calculator can still lose money once freight, advertising and the monthly subscription are counted. This calculator subtracts every per-unit cost — referral fee, FBA fulfillment and storage (or your own postage for FBM), product and freight cost, ad spend and plan fees — and shows the net profit, margin, ROI and monthly total.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose FBA or FBM and the product's category, then enter the selling price.
  2. For FBA, enter the fulfillment fee for the size tier and storage per unit sold; for FBM, enter shipping charged and your postage cost.
  3. Enter the product cost and the freight, duty and prep cost per unit.
  4. Add ad spend per unit, your plan and monthly unit sales, then read profit, margin and ROI.

Formula

Net profit = Item price + Shipping collected − Referral − Closing − Fulfillment − Storage − Product − Freight − Ads − Plan fees

Margin = Net profit ÷ (Item price + Shipping collected) × 100

ROI = Net profit ÷ (Product cost + Freight) × 100

Plan fees are $0.99 per item on the Individual plan, or the $39.99 Professional subscription divided by units sold. Media items add a $1.80 closing fee. ROI measures profit against the cash tied up in stock, so it is usually much higher than margin. The $1.80 closing fee also applies to video games, gaming accessories and consoles. These are US fee estimates checked October 30, 2026; account programs, fee-category classification and settlement rounding can differ.

Example

A $29.99 kitchen product sold through FBA pays a 15% referral fee of $4.50, a $5.50 fulfillment fee and $0.25 storage — $10.25 before subscription. Taking off the $8 product cost, $1 freight, $2 of advertising and $0.13 of subscription (300 sales a month) leaves $8.61 per unit: a 28.70% margin and 95.65% ROI, or $2,582 a month.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good profit margin on Amazon?

A useful margin depends on your costs and exposure to returns, ads and price changes. Profit before advertising is the available ad budget only when positive; a negative number means the product already loses money.

Where do I find my FBA fee?

Amazon publishes the fulfillment fee by size tier and shipping weight, and its Revenue Calculator shows the fee for a specific product. Enter that figure here.

Should advertising be counted per unit?

Yes. Divide total monthly ad spend by all units sold, including organic sales, to get the true ad cost each unit has to carry.
