Etsy Fee Calculator
Work out Etsy listing, transaction, payment processing and Offsite Ads fees on a US sale, plus your payout and profit after costs.
Etsy takes several separate fees from each sale, and they are charged on different amounts, which is why sellers are often surprised by the total. This calculator applies the current US fees — the $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing and, when it applies, the Offsite Ads fee — then shows your payout and the profit left after your own costs.
How to use this tool
- Enter the item price, the quantity sold and the shipping you charged the buyer.
- Enter the sales tax rate on the order, because the payment processing fee is charged on the tax-inclusive total.
- Choose whether the order came through an Offsite Ad.
- Add what the item and postage cost you to see your real profit.
Formula
Transaction fee = 6.5% × (items + shipping)
Processing fee = 3% × (items + shipping + tax) + $0.25
Profit = Items + shipping − Etsy fees − costs
The listing fee is $0.20 for each unit sold, allocated across units sold, including the initial listing and multi-quantity renewal fees. Unsold renewals cost extra. The Offsite Ads fee is 15% or 12% of items plus shipping, never more than $100 per order. Rates are for sellers with a US bank account.
Example
A $25 item with $5 shipping and 7% sales tax ($2.10) costs $0.20 to list, $1.95 in transaction fees (6.5% of $30) and $1.21 in processing (3% of $32.10 plus $0.25). Total fees are $3.36, so the payout is $26.64. After $8 for materials and $4.50 postage, the profit is $14.14, a 47% margin on the $30 the buyer paid before tax.
Frequently asked questions
What percentage does Etsy take from a sale?
For a typical US order without Offsite Ads, fees come to roughly 10–12% of the item and shipping total: 6.5% transaction, about 3% processing, the $0.25 order fee and $0.20 to list. Cheap items lose a larger share because of the fixed fees.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the processing fee both include the shipping you charge, so moving cost from the price into shipping does not reduce fees.
Can I avoid the Offsite Ads fee?
Sellers who have never reached $10,000 in qualifying sales during a 365-day period may opt out. After crossing that threshold, participation and the 12% rate continue for the shop’s lifetime, even if sales later fall.
