Favicon Package Generator

Create six PNG icon sizes, a multi-size ICO, HTML link tags and a basic web app manifest from one image, entirely in your browser.

Prepare a small website icon package from one image. The generator makes six PNG sizes, a three-image ICO, a ready-to-edit HTML link snippet and a basic web app manifest. It creates local downloads; you decide where and when to place them on a website.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image, preferably square and at least 512 pixels wide.
  2. Choose fit-inside padding or a center crop, plus a background.
  3. Enter the site name and generate the package.
  4. Download all files, inspect the small icons, then adapt the supplied paths before installation.

Formula

PNG sizes: 16, 32, 48, 180, 192, 512; ICO contains PNG images at 16, 32 and 48 pixels

The ICO has a 6-byte header, three 16-byte directory entries and the PNG image data. The 180 pixel PNG is named apple-touch-icon.png. The manifest references 192 and 512 pixel images with purpose:any; it does not create maskable artwork.

Example

A 512×512 logo produces 9 files: six square PNGs, favicon.ico with three sizes, favicon-links.txt and site.webmanifest. Fit-inside preserves the complete image; center crop fills the square by removing outer parts of a non-square source.

Frequently asked questions

Does this publish the favicon?

No. Download the files and install them yourself. The HTML snippet uses root-relative paths, while manifest icon paths are relative to the manifest location.

Will it make my website installable?

The manifest is a starting point. Set its name and start_url correctly and verify the requirements of your target browser. A collection of icons alone does not establish installability.

Why is the tiny icon hard to read?

Detailed artwork loses legibility when reduced to 16 pixels. Simplify the source design and inspect the actual small output. Increasing source resolution cannot preserve every fine detail.
