WebP to PNG Converter
Convert WebP images to lossless PNG with transparency kept. Batch convert, or export every frame of an animated WebP as PNGs in a ZIP.
PNG opens in practically every editor, slide program and design tool, while WebP support is still patchy outside browsers. This converter turns WebP images into lossless PNG files and keeps transparent backgrounds intact, so stickers, logos and icons stay cut out. Animated WebP files can be split into one PNG per frame. All processing happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.
How to use this tool
- Drop one or more .webp files into the box.
- Tick “Export every frame” if you want each frame of an animated WebP.
- Optionally enter a maximum width to scale large images down.
- Download the PNGs individually or all at once as a ZIP.
Formula
Each pixel’s red, green, blue and alpha values are written unchanged into the PNG (lossless DEFLATE compression). With a max width M the scale is M ÷ width for wider images.
Frames of animated files are read with the WebCodecs ImageDecoder API, which returns each frame fully composited, exactly as it appears in the animation.
Example
A 512 × 512 px animated sticker with 24 frames, converted in Chrome with “every frame” ticked, gives 24 PNGs named sticker-frame-01.png to sticker-frame-24.png, each 512 × 512 px with its transparent background.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the PNG larger than the WebP?
WebP is usually lossy and highly compressed; PNG stores every pixel exactly. A PNG three to ten times the size is normal for photos.
Does WebP to PNG lose quality?
No further quality is lost — the PNG is a pixel-exact copy. If the WebP was lossy, its existing artefacts are copied too.
Why did I get only one frame from an animated WebP?
Frame export needs the ImageDecoder API, available in Chrome and Edge. Safari and Firefox save the first frame only.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser.
