EXIF and Image Metadata Viewer

Read supported EXIF, GPS, XMP and IPTC metadata from a JPEG, PNG or TIFF file locally, with a tag table and downloadable JSON.

Inspect supported metadata inside a JPEG, PNG or TIFF file without uploading it. The viewer lists tag paths such as camera settings, descriptions and stored GPS information when the parser recognizes them. Download the parsed JSON to keep values that are shortened in the on-screen table.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose one JPEG, PNG or TIFF file of at most 25 MiB.
  2. Read the metadata status and the parsed-tag table.
  3. Download the JSON if you need longer values or more than 300 entries.
  4. Treat missing tags and timestamps according to the file’s history.

Formula

File bytes → supported metadata blocks → named tag values → table and JSON

The parser reads EXIF/TIFF, GPS, XMP and IPTC fields. It excludes maker-note binary blocks, embedded thumbnails, ICC profiles and basic image headers. This is a metadata inspection tool, not an authenticity or completeness certificate.

Example

If a file contains an EXIF exposure time of 1/125 second, its parsed numeric value may appear as 0.008. A browser-generated PNG with no supported metadata reports 0 parsed tag entries and downloads an empty JSON object.

Frequently asked questions

Why are there no tags?

The file may never have contained them, or an editor or messaging service may have removed them. The parser also has a defined set of supported blocks, so an empty result cannot prove that every possible metadata structure is absent.

Does the viewer change my original?

No. It reads the selected file and creates a separate JSON download. The original image bytes are not rewritten.

Are camera times reliable?

A timestamp is a stored field. Cameras can have incorrect clocks or omit a time-zone offset, and metadata can be edited. Do not treat it as independent evidence of when an event occurred.
