PNG to JPG Converter

Convert PNG images to JPG in your browser. Choose quality and background colour for transparent areas; batch convert many files at once.

PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes photos and screenshots large. JPG uses lossy compression, so the same image is usually several times smaller — better for email, upload limits and web pages. This converter runs entirely in your browser: your images are never uploaded.

How to use this tool

  1. Drop one or more PNG files into the box (or click to choose them).
  2. Set the JPG quality — 80–90% looks the same as the original for most photos.
  3. Pick a background colour; JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with it.
  4. Download each JPG, or all of them as one ZIP.

Formula

JPG quality q (10–100%) is passed to the browser's JPEG encoder; lower q means smaller files and more visible compression artefacts.

Example

A 1920 × 1080 PNG screenshot of about 2.1 MB typically becomes a JPG of roughly 300–450 KB at 90% quality — around five to seven times smaller — while still looking sharp on screen.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion uses your browser's own image encoder, so files stay on your device. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

Why did transparent parts turn white?

JPG cannot store transparency. Choose the background colour you want, or keep the file as PNG/WebP if you need transparency.

Which quality should I pick?

For photos, 80–90% is a good balance. For text-heavy screenshots, use 90% or more, or keep PNG, because JPG blurs sharp edges.
