Phone Number QR Code Generator
Turn a phone number into a QR code that opens the dialler (tel: link, RFC 3966). Optional caption under the code; PNG and SVG, scan-checked.
A phone number QR code lets people call without typing the number: scanning shows the number with a Call button. It is useful on business cards, shop doors, flyers, menus and vehicle signs. The tool turns what you type into a standard tel: link (RFC 3966), removes formatting characters, can print a caption under the code and checks that the image scans back correctly. All of this happens in your browser.
How to use this tool
- Type the number with its country code, for example +44 20 7946 0958 or +82 10-1234-5678.
- Optionally add a caption, such as your name or the number, to print under the code.
- Choose size, colours, error correction and format.
- Download the PNG or SVG and test it with your phone camera before printing.
Formula
tel:+<country code><national number>
Spaces, dashes, dots, slashes and brackets are removed and a leading + is kept. A full international number has at most 15 digits (ITU-T E.164), so longer input is rejected.
Example
+82 10-1234-5678 becomes tel:+821012345678. (555) 123-4567 becomes tel:5551234567, which only dials correctly inside its own country, so the tool notes that the country code is missing.
Frequently asked questions
Does scanning call the number straight away?
No. iPhone and Android cameras show the number and a Call button first; nothing is dialled until the person taps it.
Should I keep the leading 0 of my national number?
Usually not. In most countries the trunk prefix 0 is dropped after the country code: the UK number 020 7946 0958 becomes +44 20 7946 0958 and the Korean mobile 010-1234-5678 becomes +82 10-1234-5678. Italy is an exception, because landline numbers keep their 0.
Can the code send a text message instead?
A tel: code only opens the dialler. For a pre-written text message, use an SMS QR code; messaging apps such as WhatsApp use their own links.
