Location QR Code Generator (Geo, Google Maps, Apple Maps)
Make a QR code that opens a map at exact coordinates: geo: URI, Google Maps or Apple Maps link. Paste coordinates or a map link; PNG and SVG.
A location QR code opens a map at an exact point when someone scans it, which is handy on event posters, wedding invitations, delivery instructions and shop windows. This generator turns latitude and longitude into a Google Maps, Apple Maps or geo: link, draws the code as PNG or SVG and decodes the finished image again to confirm it scans. Everything runs in your browser, so the place you enter is not sent anywhere.
How to use this tool
- Paste coordinates or a map link that contains them, or type the latitude and longitude.
- Optionally add a place name. It labels the pin in Apple Maps and in Android map apps.
- Choose the link type: Google Maps for the widest support, Apple Maps for iPhone users, or geo: for Android map apps.
- Set the size, colours and format, then download the PNG or SVG.
Formula
geo:LAT,LNG · https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=LAT,LNG · https://maps.apple.com/?ll=LAT,LNG&q=NAME
Coordinates are WGS 84 decimal degrees, the system GPS and web maps use, rounded to 6 decimal places (about 11 cm). Latitude runs from -90 (south) to 90 (north), longitude from -180 (west) to 180 (east).
Example
The link https://www.google.com/maps/place/Eiffel+Tower/@48.8584,2.2945,17z contains @48.8584,2.2945, so the tool reads latitude 48.8584 and longitude 2.2945. As a geo: link the code holds geo:48.8584,2.2945; as a Google Maps link it holds https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=48.8584,2.2945.
How to copy coordinates from a map app
Google Maps on a computer: right-click the spot and click the numbers at the top of the menu to copy them. Google Maps on a phone: touch and hold to drop a pin, and the coordinates appear in the search box. Apple Maps: touch and hold to drop a pin, then open the pin details to see them. Short share links such as maps.app.goo.gl do not contain coordinates, so open them first and copy the full address. There is no address search here, because turning an address into coordinates needs an online geocoding service.
Frequently asked questions
Which link type should I choose?
Google Maps links work on almost every phone because they fall back to the browser when the app is missing. geo: is the standard map URI (RFC 5870) and opens the default map app on Android, but iPhones do not reliably handle it. Apple Maps links open Apple Maps on iPhone and Mac and a web map elsewhere.
Why does the pin land slightly off?
The @ numbers in a Google Maps link are the centre of the map view, not always the place itself. When the link also contains the place's own coordinates (the !3d…!4d… part), the tool uses those instead. For an exact pin, copy the coordinates of the spot directly.
Can I change the location after printing?
No. The coordinates are stored in the code itself, with no redirect or tracking service in between, so a new place needs a new code.
