Include unborn children when the agency household-count rule applies; verify the economic unit with your WIC office
Before tax and deductions; combine household income on a consistent period

Check gross household income against the WIC 185% income guideline effective July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. This screen covers the 48 contiguous states and District of Columbia. It compares the selected income period directly with the official rounded limit, without claiming that income alone establishes eligibility.

How to use this tool

  1. Confirm household size with the local WIC agency, including applicable unborn-child rules.
  2. Combine household gross income before deductions on one consistent pay period.
  3. Choose annual, monthly, twice-monthly, biweekly or weekly income.
  4. Compare the result with the guideline and ask the agency about other eligibility pathways.

Formula

Annual 185% guideline = $29,526 + $10,508 × (household size − 1)

Period limit = annual guideline ÷ periods per year, rounded upward to whole dollars

The frequency divisors are 1, 12, 24, 26 and 52. Each limit is derived from the annual amount, rather than by adding already-rounded monthly increments. The comparison is inclusive: income equal to the limit is within this financial guideline. States may use qualifying lower thresholds; Alaska and Hawaii have separate tables.

Example

For a three-person household, the annual guideline is $29,526 + 2 × $10,508 = $50,542. The monthly limit is ceiling($50,542 ÷ 12) = $4,212. Monthly gross income of $4,000 is $212 below that guideline. Income of $4,212.01 is above this monthly screen.

Frequently asked questions

Does a passing result mean I qualify?

No. A qualifying participant category, state residency and nutrition-risk assessment also apply. The WIC agency makes the determination.

What if my income is above the limit?

Certain participation in Medicaid, SNAP or TANF can provide an income-eligibility pathway. Ask the agency before assuming an above-limit result excludes you.

Does this calculate the food benefit?

No. WIC food packages depend on participant category and program rules. This tool evaluates only the stated financial guideline.
