New Zealand Salary After Tax Calculator (2026–27)
NZ take-home pay for 2026–27: PAYE, ACC levy, KiwiSaver and student loan deducted from your salary or hourly rate, per year, month, fortnight and week.
New Zealand gross pay is reduced by income tax, the ACC earners’ levy, KiwiSaver and any student loan repayments. PAYE includes tax and ACC, shown separately here. This calculator works out each deduction for the 2026–27 tax year (from 1 April 2026) and shows what reaches your bank account per year, month, fortnight and week.
How to use this tool
- Enter your gross pay and choose whether it is a yearly salary, a monthly, fortnightly or weekly amount, or an hourly rate.
- For an hourly rate, enter your usual hours per week.
- Pick your KiwiSaver contribution rate — 3.5% is the default from 1 April 2026.
- Tick student loan and IETC if they apply to you.
Formula
Take-home = gross − income tax − ACC levy − KiwiSaver − student loan (+ IETC)
Income tax uses the 10.5% / 17.5% / 30% / 33% / 39% bands. ACC levy = 1.75% of gross pay up to $156,641 (maximum $2,741.22). KiwiSaver = your rate × gross pay. Student loan = 12% of gross pay above $24,128. Hourly pay is annualised as rate × hours × 52.
Example
A $75,000 salary with KiwiSaver at 3.5% and no student loan: income tax is $1,638 + $6,632.50 + $6,450 = $14,720.50; the ACC levy is $1,312.50; KiwiSaver is $2,625. Take-home pay is $56,342 a year — about $4,695.17 a month, $2,167 a fortnight or $1,083.50 a week.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my payslip differ slightly?
Employers use Inland Revenue's per-period PAYE tables, which round each pay; this calculator uses annual figures, so a payslip can be a few dollars different.
Does my employer's KiwiSaver contribution come out of my pay?
Eligible employees normally receive 3.5% employer contributions before ESCT. Employers may match a temporary reduction to 3%; total-remuneration contracts can include the employer contribution in the package.
Can I still contribute 3% to KiwiSaver?
Only through a temporary rate reduction lasting 3 to 12 months; after that your rate returns to 3.5%. You can also choose 4%, 6%, 8% or 10%.
Is there a cap on the ACC levy?
Yes. For 2026–27 the levy stops at $156,641 of earnings, so the most anyone pays is $2,741.22.
