Ireland Salary After Tax Calculator 2026
See your 2026 take-home pay in Ireland after income tax, USC and PRSI — net salary per year, month and week, with pension relief and tax credits included.
Estimate take-home pay from a steady Irish salary under 2026 income tax, USC and employee PRSI rules. Annual, monthly and weekly figures are projections at the selected PRSI rate throughout the year. The calculation assumes this salary is the household's only income and uses a 52-week PRSI equivalent.
How to use this tool
- Enter gross yearly salary and tax status.
- Enter your age and actual employee pension percentage.
- Choose January–September or October–December PRSI rates, and select a confirmed employee PRSI exemption if applicable.
- Enter qualifying rent, full medical card status, eligible Home Carer relief and any spouse age or dependent-child details.
Formula
Take-home pay = salary − actual pension contribution − income tax − USC − employee PRSI
Pension tax relief uses the lesser of contributions and the age percentage of earnings capped at €115,000: 15% under 30, 20% at 30–39, 25% at 40–49, 30% at 50–54, 35% at 55–59 and 40% at 60+. Excess contributions still reduce cash pay. Income tax uses the 20%/40% bands and credits, comparing age exemption or marginal relief when eligible. USC applies to gross salary: 0.5% to €12,012, 2% to €28,700, 3% to €70,044 and 8% above.
Example
A single employee aged 35 earning €50,000 with no pension pays €7,200 income tax, €1,032.82 USC and €2,175 annualized PRSI at the October 4.35% rate. Estimated take-home pay is €39,592.18 yearly, or €3,299.35 monthly. This is the selected-rate projection, not a blend of both 2026 PRSI periods.
Frequently asked questions
When is USC reduced or zero?
Salary up to €13,000 is exempt. Full medical card holders and people aged 70+ with total income no higher than €60,000 pay 0.5% to €12,012 and 2% thereafter.
Who pays employee PRSI?
This tool models Class A or a confirmed exemption. Eligible workers deferring State Pension (Contributory) remain liable until pension award or age 70. Weekly-equivalent pay up to €352 is exempt; a credit tapers between €352.01 and €424. Payroll period thresholds and rounding can differ.
How is extra pay measured?
The marginal result compares taxes on another €100 while retaining your pension percentage. It excludes the extra pension cash contribution and can exceed ordinary rates when an exemption ends. Working spouses, other income, other PRSI classes and special reliefs require a fuller calculation.
