Zakat on Gold Calculator

Calculate a gold-only zakat estimate from alloy weight, fineness, a selected fine-gold nisab, your gold price and assessment convention.

Exclude gemstones and non-gold components before entering alloy mass.
Pure gold = 1000; 18 karat = 750. Enter the certified fineness.
Pure-gold valuation price, not the price per gram of an alloy. Illustrative default only.
Used only for the custom threshold.
Used only for custom mode. Confirm any solar-year or other accounting-period rate.

Estimate zakat for an eligible gold-only holding using fine-gold content. Enter the alloy’s mass, certified fineness and an applicable price per gram of pure gold. This tool assumes you have already established that the gold is zakatable; it does not decide personal-jewelry exemptions or whether other assets must be combined.

How to use this tool

  1. Weigh the eligible alloy in grams or kilograms, excluding stones and unrelated components.
  2. Enter fineness in parts per thousand: 18-karat gold corresponds to 750.
  3. Select a fine-gold nisab and supply a pure-gold valuation price in your currency.
  4. Confirm the required haul status and choose the assessment rate.

Formula

Fine grams = alloy mass in grams × fineness / 1000. Gold value = fine grams × fine-gold price per gram. At or above the selected fine-gold nisab, conditional zakat = gold value × rate / 100.

This is a fine-content method. A local rule that uses gross jewelry weight, customary-use limits or combined gold and savings requires a different assessment. The 85 g and 87.48 g choices preserve distinct published standards. Price is entered by you and is not a live market quote.

Example

BAZNAS illustrates 100 g of eligible gold valued at 2,000,000 currency units per gram: the holding is worth 200,000,000 and 2.5% is 5,000,000. For a purity example, 120 g of 750-fineness alloy contains 90 g fine gold; at 100 per fine gram, the conditional amount is 225.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter the price of 18-karat gold?

No. Enter the price per pure gram because fineness is already applied to the mass. Using an alloy price as well would count purity twice.

Is every piece of jewelry subject to zakat?

Jewelry treatment and low-purity rules differ. First confirm eligibility under the rules you follow; this arithmetic does not make that decision.

What if my gold is below this threshold but I also have savings?

A gold-only result does not determine a combined-wealth obligation. Check the aggregation rules and use one assessment pool without double counting.
