Zakat Calculator
Calculate conditional zakat from eligible assets, approved deductions, your selected nisab and a confirmed assessment convention.
Combine eligible wealth you have already classified under your chosen rules. This worksheet totals assets, deducts approved liabilities, compares the result with your selected nisab and calculates the conditional amount. It does not determine the religious treatment of a pension, investment, debt or personal possession.
How to use this tool
- Enter all eligible values in one currency, without counting an asset twice.
- Select a monetary nisab or a supported metal-weight standard and enter its applicable price per gram.
- State whether the required haul and ownership conditions are confirmed.
- Choose 2.5% for a lunar-year assessment, or enter a rate approved for your accounting convention.
Formula
Net base = max(0, eligible assets − approved deductible liabilities). If net base ≥ nisab, conditional zakat = net base × rate / 100; otherwise it is zero.
The full qualifying base is assessed, not merely the amount above nisab. A metal-derived threshold is grams × your entered price. Prices and defaults are examples; no current quotation or exchange rate is supplied.
Example
Cash of 10,000 plus eligible metal value of 2,000, less approved liabilities of 1,000, produces a base of 11,000. With a monetary nisab of 8,500, the lunar-rate amount is 11,000 × 2.5% = 275, conditional on the remaining requirements.
Frequently asked questions
Which nisab should I select?
Follow the authority and asset rules relevant to you. Gold weights of 85 g, 86 g and 87.48 g, and silver weights of 595 g and 612.36 g, represent different published conventions; they are not interchangeable defaults.
Does a positive result mean zakat is now due?
Only if all applicable conditions are met. Unconfirmed or incomplete haul leaves the displayed amount conditional. This worksheet does not reconstruct ownership or balance history.
Can I combine other calculators with this result?
Do not add overlapping results. Include each eligible asset once in the relevant assessment pool, and establish whether separate assets must be combined.
