Random Girl Name Generator
Generate name suggestions from verified source lists or your own pool, with prefix filters and a no-repeat option.
Explore given-name suggestions using a stored list of names recorded for girls, or a personal shortlist. Filter by the beginning of a name and request several distinct ideas at once. The result is a random naming aid without popularity forecasts or assumptions about the person receiving a name.
How to use this tool
- Leave the custom list blank to use the stored SSA list, or replace it with your own names.
- Optionally enter a first-name prefix.
- Choose the number of suggestions and repetition setting, then press Calculate.
Formula
Available suggestions = distinct names matching the optional prefix
Blank lines are ignored. Each eligible combination is equally likely; selecting without replacement prevents repeats within a draw.
Example
Enter Ava, Amelia and Mia as a custom list. Prefix A leaves 2 available suggestions, Ava and Amelia. Drawing both without repeats produces those two names in random order; the prefix M leaves Mia alone.
About this name pool
The built-in pool contains the first 40 recorded-female names in the SSA 2020–2025 table. The source category is historical statistical information, not a restriction on who can use a name. Selecting a name here does not predict its future popularity, meaning, pronunciation or cultural suitability. Use a custom shortlist when those considerations matter, and check them directly with the intended family or community.
Frequently asked questions
Are frequent names more likely to appear?
No. Every eligible entry or full-name combination has the same chance. The built-in lists are limited source snapshots, not a simulation of a national population or the current world population.
Can the same name appear again?
Yes, on a later click. The no-repeat setting applies only to one generated list. It cannot establish that a name is unused by a real person, business or fictional character.
Can I use names from another language?
Yes. Custom entries accept Unicode letters and combining accents, with hyphens or apostrophes. Each component must be a single part without spaces. Duplicate spellings are merged without regard to case; the first spelling is retained.
