Business Days Calculator — Working Days Between Two Dates

This business days calculator counts the working days between two dates. It leaves out weekends, US federal holidays (using the observed dates federal offices close) and any extra days off you list. Use it for delivery estimates, notice periods, payment terms such as "net 30 business days", or planning a project schedule.

How to use this tool

1. Enter the start and end dates.
2. Choose whether the start and end dates themselves count.
3. Pick your weekend and keep US federal holidays ticked if they apply.
4. Add company or local holidays, one date per line, then read the business-day total and the list of holidays skipped.

Formula

Business days = calendar days counted − weekend days − holidays that fall on working days

Each day in the range is checked once, so a holiday that lands on a weekend is not subtracted twice. With "Include start and end date" the count matches Excel’s NETWORKDAYS function; "Exclude the start date" matches counting a deadline from the day after an event.

Example

From Monday 2 November 2026 to Monday 30 November 2026, counting both dates, there are 29 calendar days. Eight of them are Saturdays or Sundays, and two federal holidays fall on weekdays: Veterans Day (Wednesday 11 November) and Thanksgiving (Thursday 26 November). That leaves 19 business days, or 152 working hours at 8 hours a day.
