Age in Hours Calculator
Work out your age in hours, minutes and seconds from your birth date and time, plus the dates you reach 100,000, 250,000 and 500,000 hours.
This calculator shows how many hours someone has been alive, counted from the date and time of birth to any moment you choose. It also gives the total in minutes, seconds, days and weeks, and lists when round numbers such as 100,000 or 500,000 hours are reached — a fun way to pick a date for a “half-a-million hours” party.
How to use this tool
- Enter the date of birth and, if you know it, the time of birth.
- Set the date and time to count up to — today at noon by default.
- Read the age in whole hours, then minutes and seconds.
- Look at the milestone table for dates of big round-hour numbers.
Formula
Minutes = days between the dates × 1,440 + end time − birth time
Hours = ⌊minutes ÷ 60⌋, seconds = minutes × 60
A day has 24 hours or 1,440 minutes. The day count comes from the calendar, so leap days add 24 hours each. Leap seconds are ignored, and clock changes for daylight saving time are not applied.
Example
Someone born at 00:00 on 1 January 2000 is, at midnight on 1 January 2026, 9,497 days old. Multiplying by 24 gives 227,928 hours, or 13,675,680 minutes and 820,540,800 seconds. Their 10,000th hour came at 16:00 on 20 February 2001, and 250,000 hours arrives in July 2028.
Frequently asked questions
How many hours old is a 30-year-old?
Roughly 263,000 hours: 30 years is about 10,957 days including 7 or 8 leap days, times 24. The exact figure depends on the birth time and the leap days in between.
What if I don’t know my birth time?
Use 12:00. Your true age is then within 12 hours of the figure shown, which is less than 0.01% for an adult.
When do you turn 500,000 hours old?
At about 57 years of age — 500,000 hours is 20,833 days and 8 hours. The milestone table shows the exact date and time for your birth date.
Does daylight saving time change the answer?
Only by one hour, and only if a clock change falls between the two moments and has not been reversed. For a precise count, enter both times in standard time.
