Meal Prep Calculator

Scale a recipe for your meal-prep days, people and meals. Calculate required portions, whole batches, extra servings and ingredient amounts in entered units.

Units: g, kg, mg, oz, lb, mL, L, tspUS, tbspUS, cupUS, cupMetric, piece. No header; up to 100 rows.

Scale one recipe to cover a chosen number of meal-prep days, people and meals. Enter the recipe’s actual serving yield and its ingredient quantities to compare exact scaling with making whole batches. The worksheet calculates quantities without assuming how large your meals should be.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the days, people and meals per person per day that this recipe will cover.
  2. Enter how many servings the original recipe makes.
  3. List each ingredient as name | amount | unit, using the supported unit tokens.
  4. Use the exact scaled column for proportional quantities, or the whole-batch column if you will repeat the original recipe.

Formula

required portions = days × people × meals; recipe multiplier = required portions ÷ original servings; whole batches = round the multiplier upward

Multiply each original ingredient amount by the chosen multiplier. One planned meal means one of the original recipe servings. Units remain unchanged, and separate ingredient rows are never summed into a mixed-unit total.

Example

Five days for two people at one recipe meal per day require 10 portions. If the original recipe makes four, its exact multiplier is 10 ÷ 4 = 2.5. An original 300 g ingredient becomes 750 g. Making three whole batches instead uses 900 g of that ingredient and produces 12 portions, leaving two extra.

Frequently asked questions

What do the cup tokens mean?

cupUS identifies a US customary cup, and cupMetric identifies a 250 mL cup. They are retained as entered; this worksheet does not convert between them or infer ingredient density.

Will cooking time also multiply?

No. Ingredient scaling alone does not determine heating, cooking time or equipment capacity. Check the method and batch size separately.

Can it scale individual eggs or other pieces?

Yes, piece is accepted and exact scaling may produce a fraction. Decide how to measure that ingredient or choose whole batches.

Does the number of days set a storage limit?

No. Days only counts planned meals. The calculator does not assess food safety, refrigeration or freezing arrangements.
