Game Studio Name Generator
Generate indie game studio names in six styles, with an optional keyword, your preferred suffix and a matching handle idea for each name.
A studio name goes on your store pages, credits, logo and every email you send to publishers, so it is worth a few minutes of brainstorming. This generator builds names in six styles from patterns small studios actually use — adjective plus noun, a coined word, "Number + plural" and "This & That" pairings — and lets you fix the ending (Games, Studios, Interactive…) or drop it. Each idea comes with a lowercase handle you can try for a domain or social account.
How to use this tool
- Choose the style that fits the games you want to make.
- Pick an ending, or "No ending" for names that stand alone.
- Optionally add a keyword such as your surname, a pet or a hometown.
- Set how many names you want and change the variation number for a new batch.
Formula
name = pattern(adjective, noun, prefix + suffix, keyword) + ending
Each style has 16 adjectives, 16 nouns, 8 plural nouns and 8 prefixes and suffixes for coined words. A seeded random generator fills the patterns and skips duplicates. The handle is the name in lowercase with spaces and symbols removed and "&" written as "and".
Example
The playful indie word bank supports patterns such as "Paperjam Games" (handle paperjamgames), "Three Teapots Games" and "Pickle & Turnip Games" (handle pickleandturnipgames). Adding the keyword "Kim" turns every other idea into names like "Kim Rocket Labs" or "Wobbly Kim Entertainment".
Frequently asked questions
How do I check if a studio name is taken?
Search your country's company register and trademark database, a domain registrar, Steam and the app stores, plus the social platforms you need. Do it before you design a logo; renaming later costs far more.
Should the name include "Games" or "Studios"?
An ending makes it obvious what you do and frees up handles when the bare word is taken, but it makes the name longer. Many small teams register the short name and use the longer form only where needed.
Is it better to name the studio after myself?
A personal name is easy to own and suits solo developers, but it can feel awkward when the team grows or if you ever sell the company. A neutral name scales better.
Why does the list stay the same when I reload?
The ideas depend only on the style, ending, keyword and variation number, so a list can be shared and found again. Change the variation number to see new names.
