Arizona Paycheck Calculator (2026)
Work out 2026 Arizona take-home pay per paycheck: federal withholding (Pub 15-T), Social Security, Medicare and your Arizona A-4 withholding rate.
Estimate average 2026 Arizona take-home pay for one employer paying the same regular wages throughout the year. Federal withholding follows Publication 15-T and a 2020-or-later W-4; state withholding follows the A-4 election. Social Security and Medicare are annual totals divided by pay periods, so checks crossing wage thresholds will differ from this average.
How to use this tool
- Enter salary or straight-time hourly pay for up to 40 hours weekly, and select pay frequency.
- Copy filing status and Steps 2–4 from your current W-4.
- Enter regular pre-tax retirement and eligible Section 125 health deductions.
- Choose the A-4 percentage and any permitted extra withholding.
Formula
Average take-home = gross − pre-tax deductions − federal withholding − Social Security − Medicare − Arizona withholding
Federal taxable pay excludes permitted retirement and health deductions. Apply the 2026 annual percentage-method table after W-4 adjustments, subtract Step 3 credits with a zero floor, then add Step 4(c). Retirement deferrals remain subject to FICA. Social Security is 6.2% up to $184,500; Medicare is 1.45% plus 0.9% above the employer’s $200,000 withholding threshold. A-4 percentages apply to wages generally reported in W-2 box 1.
Example
With $60,000 annual salary, single status, 26 paychecks, no adjustments and A-4 at 2%, gross is $2,307.69. Federal withholding is $193.08, Social Security $143.08, Medicare $33.46 and Arizona withholding $46.15. Average take-home is $1,891.92.
Frequently asked questions
Is the A-4 default the final state tax rate?
No. The 2% default is withholding on taxable wages, not a calculation of annual liability. Compare your expected tax, credits and withholding before choosing an election. Zero requires expecting no Arizona tax liability and must be renewed annually.
How should I complete the W-4 amounts?
Copy the actual form. For exactly two jobs using Step 2(c), both forms need that checkbox. Complete Steps 3–4(b) on only one form. Use the W-4 deductions worksheet for eligible tips, overtime and other deductions; do not simply enter gross tips or overtime.
What is outside this estimate?
Overtime, bonuses, part-year employment, multiple-employer FICA, pre-2020 W-4s, federal exemptions, nonresident adjustments, Roth and after-tax deductions need other methods. Regular retirement deferrals are limited to $24,500; catch-ups are excluded. Enter only health contributions already confirmed allowable under your plan.
